Indian School Band Blasphemes Church At Concert Fundraiser
June 11, 2006A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor from India by the name of Shashi Kiran — singer of the Indian metal band DARK RITUAL — has submitted the following report:
"A school band from Jamshedpur, India calling themselves DARK RITUAL played a controversial concert on May 6 organized by Lupita Church in order to raise funds to erect a new church. The band intially got the gig by using a fake name and assuring the organizers they were a soft rock band. But the gig ended in controversy when the band's frontman announced their real name, which was followed by the group launching into a set of 'antichrist music.' The high priest was shocked by this revelation and the fans raising their hands in the air showing the devil's horns! They asked the band to stop playing only after three songs, which resulted in a verbal battle on stage between the band and the organizers. But the band came out on top with the fans' support and continued their set. The organizers (all Christians) — bewildered by the behavior of the youths who had formed a very violent but friendly mosh pit — called the local police, which resulted in two fans being detained and taken to the police station for minor offenses. The show resumed after a brief pause of confusion, but due to the pressure by the organizers, the band had to leave stage 40 minutes into their set. The band — highly satisfied with their contributions to the show — asked the fans to raise their hands one last time for the devil. As soon as the band left stage, the bulk of the crowd followed without waiting for the next band to take the stage."
